Words like minimalism, simplicity, and intentional living are all the rage right now.
–Yes, I did say “all the rage” and yes, I am a 90’s kid.
Before Marie Kondo took over our Netflix accounts there were many people already putting these practices into place. Or just reading her book.
Side note-Does anyone else feel like reading is becoming a lost art form?
There is something to be said about this wave though. The fruit of letting go of our excess has started showing itself in other areas. We are more comfortable giving our finances, our time, our whatever.
And for us that looks like…
^ That was a hard lesson because I love buying educational toys. Puzzles, flash cards, things that hone their fine motor skills. And there is nothing wrong with these toys at all! Would you like to know what they like though? Blocks, superhero costumes, and hot wheels. But guess what? If I am not cleaning up 80% of the day I can play with them. Those flash cards for colors? Use the hot wheels instead. Puzzles for numbers? Use the blocks. Hey, build a garage with the blocks for the cars and there’s the motor skills, too! It took me years but I’ve learned it isn’t the toy or tool that makes the difference. It’s you.
And that’s an overview of what intentional living looks like for us. If you had your dream space what would it look like?
