When I first started GPP it was definitely with the intentions of having a side hustle. Something that I could do on the weekends but still be full time mom during the week. I’d edit at night after the kids went to sleep and Tyler is a rockstar Dad so he had no problems with the kids while I was gone. Just peachy, right?
Well, business got little busier…and busier and before I knew it my workload was that of a full time photographer, full time mom, and not to mention homemaker and wife. Overwhelmed was an understatement. There was this battle between my dreams, my reality, and my expectations.
It was life with littles. But that’s pretty similar to everyones reality, right? We all are trying to strike this balance of work and home life. So what to do?
I have this passion in my heart for photography but I have three little answered prayers that I want to be mindful of sitting right in the living room.
I knew I could do everything on my dream list and home list, therefore I expected to get it done. But therin lies the problem. I expected that just because I knew how to do all the things, that I should do all the things.
But working in the office ( or my fav, a coffee shop ) for 5 days a week and 8 hours a day is unrealistic with Tyler also working 40+ hours a week.
Check back next week and I’ll walk you through the 3 things I did to restore balance to my business and win back time with my family! But for now, head on over to instagram and say hey!
